Mahlatse Masimini of Moshate Media is an aspirant businesswoman who shares the same philosophy as President Obama - and that is “Yes we can!”. Moshate Media facilitates events where the construction and agriculture, health and welfare sectors of government meet the people in their own backyard. This takes the form of exhibitions and workshops, question and answer sessions, and interacting with the people. Those attending the events are provided with information on how to access funding for small business – even if it is a sewing circle or co-operative vegetable growing scheme or how to register their ventures. Mahlatse has projects in publishing and marketing. Her dream is to empower women and youth – particularly from the rural areas – in whatever way makes a meaningful difference to their lives. She grew up in Limpopo and has seen and experienced the lack of opportunity for women first-hand. Mahlatse's brainchild, Rural Women Empowerment, is a publication in which she facilitates social projects that showcase assistance programmes and skills development where they are needed the most. |
